The Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) has indicated interest to collaborate with the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun in safety training and professional certification of its graduates in industrial safety.

This was disclosed when a delegation from the University led by Prof. John Arubayi visited the Warri Centre of the Institute on Monday, July 7, 2014.

In a speech, Prof. John Arubayi informed the Management of the Institute that the University was interested in collaborating with organisations and Institutes that would help the University achieve her goal of producing high-level manpower for the oil and gas industry.

In response, the President of the National President of the Institute, Dr. Nnamdi Ilodiuba, said that the visit could not have come at a better time than now, adding that the Institute was very ready to collaborate with FUPRE as it has done with the University of Port Harcourt.

He emphasised that there was the urgent need to certify all graduates of engineering so as to be relevant in the oil and gas industry, promising to ensure that both institutions entered into memorandum of understand in the shortest possible time.

On the delegation were the Director of Linkages, Prof. Tawari Fufeyin, Engr. Godwin Uzedhe and Engr. Aaron Onyan.
