The Information and Communication Technology Directorate of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources manages all Information and Communication Technology related tasks.
The vision of the Directorate is to support the overall vision of the University by providing modern and smart solutions to all Information and Communication Technology challenges.
We shall attempt to be ranked top ten best Information and Communication Technology directorate in Nigerian Universities by acquiring state-of-the-art ICT equipment, provide efficientICT services and keep staff abreast with the latest technological development.
SOME NOTEABLE ACHIEVEMENTS
i. Donation of Network equipment by NCC
ii. Subscription of 45mbps Nigerian Research Education Network( NgREN)
iii. Trained over 100 staff with grant from the NCC and support from the Digital Bridge institute
iv. Setup of a new ICT Computer Centre
v. Use of e-minutes/paperless meetings at Departments/Colleges and approved for Senate meetings.
The ICT Directorate is divided into two sub-units. The Hardware System Unit and the Software System Unit.
The Software System Unit is in charge of design, development, deployment and maintenance of computer software and web content for the university. This unit also handles all issues that relates to student admissions, registration, students’ results computation, staff and students’ identity management amongst others.
The Hardware System Unit is in charge of recommending and installing appropriate Information and Communication Technology hardware devices and providing support services to staff and students of the University on issues that relates to users Computer hardware and intranet/internet connectivity.
