Christopher Onosemuode is a Professor of Geoinformatics, a researcher and a lecturer at the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology of the University. A 2005 holder of Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cartography from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma where he had earlier had an M.Sc in Cartography and Remote Sensing (2000) and a B.Sc in Geography (1997). In 2010 he accessed and acquired a PGD in Geographical Information System (GIS) from the Federal School of Survey, Oyo State, Nigeria.
Elevated to the rank of a Professor in 2017, Chris Onosemuode had grown through the ranks to attain the apogee of academic height. He joined the pioneer staff of the Department of Environmental Science now re-christened Environmental Management & Toxicology of the University as Lecturer 1 having began his academic career at Nasarawa State University, Keffi as Assistant Lecturer.
As an avid researcher Prof. Onosemuode has several publications in reputable national and international journals to his credit. Significantly, he is a member of the Editorial Board of International Journal on Environmental Sciences, International Journal of Applied Remote Sensing & GIS, and several other national and international journals. His research interest includes Spatial Analysis and Environmental Modeling using Geoinformatics Techniques.
Currently, he is the Dean, College of Science of the University. He was once Head, Department of Environmental Management & Toxicology between 2013 and 2015. Prof. Onosemuode has chaired several Committees in the University and still a serving member of several other Committees. He is currently an internal member of the Governing Council of the University representing the interest of the University Senate.
He is a member of the Nigerian Cartographic Association (NCA), Nigeria Environmental Society (NES), America Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON).
