The Security Unit is an integral part of the Vice Chancellor’s office. It has the mandate to secure lives and properties in the University campus. The day-to-day administration of the unit is vested on the Chief Security Officer (CSO) who is responsible to the Vice Chancellor.
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SECURITY UNIT The Security Unit of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, started in 2012 under the supervision of the pioneer Chief Security Officer. The Unit comprises of two (2) Security Officers (SO), and two (2) Assistant Security Officers (ASO), who carry out security duties and supervise the private security guards inside the campus; an Administrative Officer, and a Personal Confidential Secretary who carry out administrative duties.
The University Security Council meets regularly to appraise security duties and to make recommendations to the Vice Chancellor on security and safety issues in the University.
